Virginia Profeta, Psy.D.
Virginia Profeta graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Yeshiva University in 1992. She received a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology in 1994, and a Doctoral Degree with Distinction in Clinical Psychology in 1999 from Albizu University.
Dr. Profeta completed both her predoctoral internship and doctoral residency at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, formerly known as Miami Children’s Hospital, where she helped implement the first Eating Disorders track. Dr. Profeta is a Licensed Psychologist in Florida and a member of the American Psychological Association.
Dr. Profeta began her professional career in 1995 as a Clinical Therapist for Harborview Hospital, an inpatient psychiatric facility for dually diagnosed individuals with substance abuse and addiction. In the next two years, she directed group therapy for geriatrics in partial hospitalization programs throughout South Florida.
Following receipt of her doctoral degree and post-doc residency, Dr. Profeta worked as the Licensed Clinical Psychologist heading the Psychiatric Department of Centro Medico Clinic in Little Havana in Miami. At the same time, Dr. Profeta served as an independent contractor for private practices to conduct psychoeducational evaluations. In 2003, she formed a small private practice in Little Havana, centered on individual and family therapy and psychoeducational testing.
Due to the increased demand for evaluations for gifted placement, Dr. Profeta formed Psychological Associates and Gifted Testing, L.L.C. in 2013, which later became Gifted Testing Evaluations, L.L.C. in 2021. The practice provides services including individual and family therapy, from children to geriatrics. Dr. Profeta has extensive experience assessing children for gifted eligibility, and guiding parents who need direction and support when their kids are faced with learning challenges.
As a mother of five, Dr. Profeta has firsthand understanding of child rearing, and experience with both the private and public-school systems. All her kids initially attended private schools and went on to public schools in Miami-Dade County. Her three older children presently attend Ivy League universities.
